From the President
2006 was a
great year for the Newnan-Coweta Historical Society and 2007 is
shaping up to be even better! Now that we have Wendee Miller on
board as our new Executive Director we will be able to maintain
better communications with our membership, and that process has
already begun. By now most of you have probably already had a
phone call from Wendee, and I am encouraged by the feedback she has
gotten from these calls. Many of you have expressed a desire to
become more involved with the Historical Society, and we certainly
plan to take you up on your offer. We will also be able to
maintain communications through this newsletter, and I am pleased
that we are now able to get this reinstituted.
We made
tremendous progress in 2006 toward meeting our goal of making your
membership in the Historical Society "pay dividend" and we
want to be able to do even more for you this year, but we need
feedback and input from you the membership to make that
possible. Many of you no doubt know of someone who has a
collection that would make a good exhibit, you have an idea for a
program or you have seen or heard of someone who would make an
interesting program. Be sure to give us a call at the
Historical Society office (770) 251-0207 and let us know if you have
ideas or suggestions.
I also want to
take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Carol Rogers for
the excellent job she did of running the office and the Male Academy
museum while we were without an Executive Director. Carol took
on what was supposed to be a "short term" temporary
position, and stayed with it for just over one year until we were
able to get someone in place. Not many people would have been
as understanding or as willing to hang in there as Carol was, and we
are indebted to Carol for her service
